Three Major Data Migration Projects Completed in Q4/2004

HOUSTON, TX, January 31, 2005  -- Data Strategies Int’l, Inc. today announced the successful completion of three large data migration projects in the last quarter of 2004.

 The first project was an important part of our Customer's check archive modernization initiative aimed at centralizing check imaging and processing, standardizing hardware, software, process etc., reducing costs, and improving efficiency.  The migration of over 2 billion check items (front and back images plus metadata) from a legacy Banctec check archive to a new Carreker check image archive was performed using Data Strategies' proven off-line check migration process and platform. Over 4400 pieces of media were processed and 50 Terabytes of check images and metadata were converted.

 The second project consisted in the migration of the contents of a legacy document image archive (Eastman Software) to the Mobius ViewDirect document management system.  This process involved the extraction of over 4.6 million documents for a total of 14.6 million pages and their conversion from TIFF to PDF files ready to be imported into the target archive. The source media (5.25" optical WORM platters) was processed in our secure Houston facility and the converted data was delivered to the Customer on high capacity tapes.

The last project, performed for a leading provider of document management solutions, successfully migrated the contents of a legacy Microbank StorQM archive (line-data reports) to Mobius ViewDirect document management archive.  Data Strategies' data migration process delivered the converted reports on IBM Standard Label tapes and generated the JCL files with the InfoPack data needed to ingest the data into the target system.

The most significant benefit of using Data Strategies' off-line data migration approach for these projects is that it made possible to migrate over 51 Terabytes of data with virtually no impact on ongoing production work and without using customer's resources.

CheckGenie

All check migration services are performed using our highly scalable platform and proven software tool, CheckGenie. In some migration projects we have used over twenty concurrent data extraction/conversion streams each capable of processing over 100 check items per second. 
If needed, CheckGenie is capable of performing on-the-fly image repair and MICR data correction (in addition to format conversion).

DocumentGenie

DocumentGenie is the software tool at the base of our off-line document migration process. It 'understands' a large variety of documents, including Line-data, AFP, PDF, Scanned Images, etc., and can perform most needed format conversions on-the-fly.
